Biking Trip to Mullayanagiri-Bababudangiri-Kemmanngundi [12th -13th Jan 2007]

About Place:
275 Kms from Bengaluru, near Chickmagalur, Bababudangiri hills are heaven on earth in the Western Ghats . Luxuriant green grass, moss infested trees, sparkling waterfalls, rugged hills and pure air seems generously God gifted. The dense mist reduces the visibility to just a few meters. The wind almost blows you off the hill. Sometimes it appears as if the mountain has conspired with the rain and the wind and is trying to throw away the unwelcome intruders. Also the daytime temperature drastically falls from 34 C to below 10 C by nightfall.

There are very exceptional and challenging treks between Mullayanagiri, Bababudangiri and Kemmangundi. The trek from Kaimara to Mullayanagiri is steep. Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in South India standing at 1919 m. The 15 Kms trek along the ridges of the steep mountains crosses the Attigundi waterfall and concludes at Bababudangiri. One route will take you to the beautiful hill station Kemmangundi via Galikere. This trek is about 25 Kms.

PS Note: This trip does not involve much of trekking and is more of biking. In this trip, we will be biking up till Mullayanagiri peak spend some time at the peak and reach Galikere for camping in the night. Lunch will be on the way & dinner at Bababudangiri including breakfast the next morning. From Bababudangiri we will head towards Kemmannugundi & take jeeps from there to reach Hebbe Falls. Spend some time at the falls and return to Kemmannugundi and have lunch before starting back towards Bangalore.

Those who are willing to offer lift or who need lift, please mention the same in the registration form. Fuel charges to be shared.

Route : Bangalore - Neelamangala - Hassan - Chikmagalur - Mullayanagiri - Bababudangiri - Kemmannugundi - Bangalore.

      Tentative Schedule: 
      12th Jan 2008  06:30 AM    Meet up at "Symphony Theater - MG Road, Bangalore"
       07:00 AM    Start from Bangalore, lunch on the Way.
       12:30 PM    Reach Mullayanagiri peak
       04:30 PM    Reach Bababuddhangiri, Camp at GaliKere,Dinner etc. 
      13th Jan 2008  06.30 AM    Finish breakfast
       07.00 AM    Start towards Kemmannugundi
       09.30 AM    Reach Kemmannugundi and start towards Hebbe Falls
       12.30 PM    Return to Kemmannugundi & lunch
       02.00 PM    Start back to Bangalore 

Participation Fees: Rs. 275.00
Above charges include: Accommodation/Tent, Sleeping bag, Jeep rides to Hebbe Falls, First aid etc..
Above charges does not include: Break fast, lunch, dinner, your bike fuel etc.
